Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts optional (walnuts or pecans)

Method
 

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Add the cold butter cubes and cut them into the dry ingredients using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture forms coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in chopped nuts if using.
  4. Sprinkle the streusel evenly over muffin batter, cake, or pie before baking.

  • Always use cold butter for the best crumbly texture.
