Method
- Fill a tall glass generously with ice cubes.
- Pour 1 oz of grenadine syrup over the ice. Let it sink to the bottom to create a beautiful pink gradient.
- Slowly pour 4 oz of lemon-lime soda over the ice. Pour gently to preserve the carbonation.
- Stir once or twice gently to lightly combine. Do not over-stir.
- Garnish with 3 maraschino cherries and an orange or lemon slice on the rim.
- Add a colorful paper straw and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a Dirty Shirley Temple: add 1–2 oz vodka
- For a Shirley Temple Black: add 2 oz dark rum
- No grenadine? Make homemade cherry syrup with frozen cherries + sugar + water
- Use ginger ale instead of lemon-lime soda for the traditional version
- Best served immediately — don't let the ice melt too long!
